Vernissage Zodiac Series & 4AM Series

Vernissage

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 15.00 – 17.00 we cordially invite you to the vernissage. The artist will be present in person to give an insight into her work. The exhibition space – as a connecting element between two parts of the building – symbolizes the transition, the in-between, which is also a recurring theme in her work.

About the artist

The colorful works of Swiss artist Kiki Austen embody socio-political and critical themes. In her own words: “Complicated issues from our everyday lives today are packaged in a colorful and surrealistic way. Admire and enjoy the cheerful colors, the glitter, the soft lines and the absurdity, but don’t let it fool you.”

Kiki creates analog and digital collages or mixed media. Each image and graphic in her artwork has been personally selected, placed, optimized and edited. One work takes about 8 hours of work.

Zodiac Series

The Zodiac Series is about the signs of the zodiac and their associated elements. The signs are not presented in an obvious way – instead, symbolism and interpretations are incorporated in a broad form. Each work includes a detailed explanation of these symbols.

4AM Series

The 4AM Series represent a brain of the insomniac at 4am. She says: “It’s 4 a.m., my brain is doing the thought carousel and I can’t turn it off.” The colorful subjects and, above all, the many flowers symbolize the fact that beautiful things can often grow from unpleasant experiences. The phrase “Flowers bloom from my tired mind” – also the title of one of her works – is central to this.
