About the Artist

Black-and-white portrait of the artist MINO (Stefan Bächler)

Behind MINO’s works lies a clear vision: to showcase the Swiss countryside at its happiest. Inspired by traditional Swiss motifs, the artist breathes new life into the quintessential elements of our culture—quintessential, cheerful, and authentic.

His journey into art began after completing a banking apprenticeship, when his urge to create became impossible to ignore. He started out with artistic paper cutouts—today he creates richly detailed, colorful illustrations full of characters, little stories, and a zest for life.

In 2023, MINO was honored with the Palm Art Award (Certificate of Excellence).

SWISSMOTIV

What makes Switzerland so endearing?

The exhibition showcases our homeland at its most cheerful.

In “SWISSMOTIV,” MINO presents a series of illustrations that celebrate Switzerland’s convivial spirit and quintessential charm: bustling alleyways in Zurich’s Niederdorf, the Limmatquai with its blue tram, a lakeside festival featuring an accordion, and swimmers at a mountain lake—and the Hotel Sedartis itself.

The artist’s trademark is the joy of life and the smiles of his characters. If you look closely, you’ll discover countless little stories in every painting: dancing couples, vintage cars, grandparents sitting on a bench, and children playing.

One work is particularly close to the artist’s heart: the design for Hotel Sedartis. He was drawn to the challenge of translating modern architecture into a playful, illustrative visual language.

MINO hopes that his works will sharpen people’s appreciation for the beauty and conviviality of everyday life, spark conversations, and leave visitors with a warm, lasting smile.

The exhibition invites visitors to take a closer look.
